HORNETS

Four cylinder race cars can be a wonderful thing. They provide a great way for a racing fan or a youngster to get on the track and get a taste of the sport without spending alot of money or having a great deal of technical knowledge. Once a driver gets that taste, one of three things should happen. A driver will move up to a genuine rear wheel drive race car if they really get bit by the race bug, a driver will pocket the experience and continue to enjoy the sport from outside the drivers seat, or take the division for what it was meant to be....FUN, and come out to have a good time driving their car. There are plenty of competitors in this division that get it. That being said, there is something that should be understood by those of you that just DON'T get it. FOUR CYLINDER RACE CARS ARE ONE STEP UP FROM THE GO-CARTS AT YOUR LOCAL FUNPLEX, ONE STEP BEHIND A ROADRUNNER, AND TWO STEPS BEHIND A HOBBY STOCK!! You four cylinder folks need to take an example from drivers who have been doing this for awhile. Do you see or hear Kirk, Coffee, Noteboom, Wynia, Cole, Husted, Golden, Montange, or Waples, or 98% of experienced racers whining, bitching, moaning, and complaining week in and week out like the soap opera of the four cylinder division? This was designed to be a "go out and have fun on the cheap" division for Christ's sake. Quit taking yourselves so seriously. If you're not having fun, get the hell out. Until then, just drive your cars and try to learn each week. Then its time to move up, move on, or have a good time.
