WAPLES CAPTURES MODIFIED FEATURE WIN AT PARK JEFFERSON 8-2-08

Chad Waples of Sioux City was able to hold off the late challenges from Reese Coffee to pick up the win in the IMCA A Modified Feature. Ricky Stephan of South Sioux City, Nebraska led the first ten circuits until Chris Abelson took the lead. Abelson eventually lost his motor on lap 15 and Waples passed Stephan on lap 17 and never looked back.
The two Scharn brothers, Matt and Mike, respectively finished first and second in the IMCA stock car feature. Jason Ward of Sioux City was able to catch the brothers but couldnt pass either one as the laps ran down. Harvey VanDeWeerd of Alton, Iowa picked up the victory as the IMCA Sport Mods after doing battle for several laps with Jeff Brunssen of LeMars, Iowa. Kirk Beatty, the points leader raced to the checkers in third.
Jake McClure of Sgt Bluff, Iowa picked up his second win of the season by out dueling points leader Rusty Montagne for the victory. John Cain (currently second in points) finished third. Les (Bo) Lundquist of Sioux City made it back to back B Modified feature wins after being able to miss all the action going on behind him. Points leader Jeff Barber destroyed his modified race car in a roll over in turn four. Barber cut down a tire after entering the corner, struck the tire barriers and rolled several times. He escaped shaken, but unhurt. Todd Saunders (currently fourth in the points battle) finished second. Daniel Loggins and Austin Pinney both came home victorious in the Pro and Novice Hornet divisions.
