Dane Martindale continued his domination in the Novice Hornet division by picking up his sixth win on the season and fifth in a row as Dirt Destroyers presented the racing action at Park Jefferson Speedway. At the end of the evening joining Martindale in victory lane were Shawn Turner, Jay Noteboom, Les Lundquist, Chris Weatherton, Jason Ward and Paul Menard.
The Yankton Automotive Machine IMCA Modified feature was 20 laps of pure action. By the time the checkered flag flew, all the crowd could do was talk about the fantastic race they just saw. Chris Ableson took the lead by completing a three wide slide job from the bottom of turn four. That was only lap one. Four circuits later Ableson would jump the cushion in turn four, giving the lead to Chad Waples. Waples was under constant barrage from Jay Noteboom. Waples and Noteboom would trade the lead numerous times each lap, with Noteboom finally taking the lead for good just after the half way point. With positions changing every lap, the final top five ended with Mike Hansen, Dirk Kirk, Matt Bonine, and Reese Coffee all behind Noteboom.
Jason Ward and Mark Stanley put on a great show in the B&B Salvage Stock Car feature. Stanley worked the cushion non stop with Ward running the lower groove. Ward would chip away at Stanleys lead, lap after lap, finally Ward would complete the pass. Stanleys chance to comeback was lost when he jumped the cushion off of turn two, and Ward was able to pull away to a sizeable lead. After Ward, Max Hofer would edge Mike Scharn, Stanley, and Tony Ritterbush would round out the top five.
Chris Weatherton would debut at new look in the Motor Parts Central Sport Mod main event. An all black car with Your name here on the side is not something most drivers want to showcase. Weatherton would not be deterred as he would jump to the lead early on, and hold off all challengers to find victory lane. Behind Weatherton, the action would be fierce. Geoff Olson and Kirk Beatty would put on a great show battling for position as would Dan Van Bruggen and Harvey VandeWeerd. VandeWeerd would finish second ahead of Beatty, Van Bruggen, and Chad DeVries.
Some call him the Veteran, some call him the King of the Old School. Whatever it is you want to call him, on this night no one would get buy Paul Menard. When the Yankton Automotive Machine Hobby Stocks took the green, Menard would get to the front right away. Craig Clift would charge up to second, before falling out with a flat tire. After the caution, John Cain would challenge Menard at every opportunity, but could not get past Menard for the win. Jake McClure, Josh Ruschmann, and Josh Grimsley would follow Menard and Cain to the line.
The Ver Hoef Automotive BMods would have a little extra incentive for a strong run as Countryside Senior living added some bonus money to the top finishers totals. When the money was handed out, Les Lundquist was first in line. A great battle at the front of the field between John Felix, Scott Jones, Jason Felix, and Todd Saunders would swap positions each lap, until Lundquist would get past them all and hold off a hard charging Rich Hesse for the win. After Lundquist and Hesse, Darin Roepke, Jeff Barber and Saunders would finish inside the top five.
Shawn Turner had been running an Outlaw schedule for the entirety of the 2008 season, and this night would bring him to race in the Steves Roofing Hornet division at Park Jefferson Speedway. Daniel Loggins would rocket to the lead in his new machine, but Turner would maintain his second spot until the white flag lap when Turner would get past Loggins going down the backstretch and get to the finish line first. Dane Martindale would continue his domination of the Novice Hornets by picking up his fifth straight win by over a straightaway over Zach Ankrum.
