DEMOLITION DERBY AND DR. DANGER TOP THE EVENING AT I-80 SPEEDWAY 6-28-08

(06/28/08)
It was a fiery, smashing, rolling good time for all this past Sunday at I-80 Speedway. A vehicle in the Late Models rolled 3 times, Doug Heath Crushed the competition after tolling his truck early in the Demolition Derby. Last, but certainly not least, Dr. Danger Showed us how to destroy a Cadillac, "Artistically".

You don't normally witness a vehicle roll 3 times. Not unless you are watching Extreme Police Chases on TV, or a Hollywood Blockbuster. But for Matt Buller, #43, it was all a reality. We all shrieked when we saw the underbody of Matt's car not once, but 3 times to finally come to rest upright. Pretty spectacular for a Sunday night. Matt was OK, thankfully, only needing to catch his breath for a second while looking at his car.

The Late Models weren't the only guys to experience life off 4 wheels. Demolition Derby winner Doug Heath found himself lying on his driver side door after going rear to rear with the #14 truck. Not to detour him from keeping that yard stick on his window. Congratulations Doug.

With a band, a rush of hot air, and a Cadillac engulfed in flames, Daredevil Dr. Danger entertains all. The white Cadillac never stood a chance when Danger touched the wires together. I asked the Doc what he thinks before he blows himself up. Humbly he replies "I sure hope I did this right. Its my art, some people play the guitar, some people wish they could play the guitar. This is like my guitar."

Everything went off without a hitch, and Dr. Danger will be back on August 10th, to show us all how its done.

At the conclusion of the night, I have come to see that I-80 speedway has a little more in store for the fans than just the races. Things that will attract all ages. From face-painting to a beer garden, everyone will enjoy their night. Hope to see you next Sunday.
