BVR FARM BUREAU NIGHT 8-20-08

After a night of action packed heat races, the crowd was on there feet wanting more during Farm Bureau Night at The Beaver. First though, the kids took to the track for Bike Races.

As the Storm Lake Honda and Arctic Cat IMCA Sport Compacts rolled to the speedway everyone wondered if Dan Rhiley would once again grace Budweiser Victory Lane. As the green flag went to the air, Sioux City driver Shawn Turner had other ideas for Dan. As the Feature went on Rhiley would challenge Turner for the lead, but at the end it was Shawn Turner in the Winners Circle.

The Rasmussen Ford IMCA Hobby Stocks were next at the famed 3/8 mile speed plant. Shane Klaasseen of Little Rock would take off from the pole and lead all 12 laps of the Farm Bureau Feature. He held off a last lap run by Devin Smith. As victory lane looked to be the place to be for Klaasseen, it was short lived, as he was claimed by Michael Murphy and refused to sell. This then disqualified the Little Rock racer and gave the win to Devin Smith.

Mick King of Odebolt was able to dominate the Storm Lake Truck and Trailer IMCA SportMod Feature. With a great start, Mick was able to stay clear of Luke Wanninger, the tracks points leader and IMCA National points leader to pick up the win. Brett Meyer of Lytton rounded out the top three finishers.

Scooters Bar and Grille IMCA Stock Cars once again did not let the crowd down. At the drop of the Green flag, Troy Wodlber of Hull took the lead and stayed there until an early red flag was thrown for Jason Mickelson. Mickelson made contact with the concrete wall in turn three and flipped wildly to a stop. This ended the Storm Lake drivers chance to find victory lane like he did Saturday night at The Jackson Nationals. After the restart it was the Smith, Smith, Smith and Blessington show. Donovan and David would bounce off each other as they raced for the lead. At the end of the 15 lap Farm Bureau Feature it would be Dustin Smith going to victory lane.

The nightcap was the Fitzpatrick Auto Center IMCA Modified feature. At the wave of Toby Kruses green flag it was all Mike Albertson to the lead. An early race accident that took out Stacy Mills and Brad Williams would put 16 year old racer Nick Deal right on the rear deck lid of the leader Albertsen. With 9 laps to go Deal had sized up Albertsen and made his move off of turn 2 for the lead. After that is was no looking back for Deal. Second was Albertsen and third went to Boyden racer Randy Brands.
Next week is the Fitzpatrick Auto Center Season Championships.
